When capital is used up loaning money to people who are lying cheats (Trump) its no longer available to loan to honest hard working people who will use it to build something useful. The other reason is its against the law. You might question why the law is like that but that doesn’t change the fact Trump broke NY law continuously for decades. I know Trump doesn’t believe in the rule of law. But that doesn’t mean the rest of us shouldn’t.

It appears that the bank either didn’t do due diligence in determining the value of the collateral or chose to go along with Trump in falsifying their value. Either way, if this is standard operating procedure in New York City real estate, which seems to be the case, it would go a long way to explaining why a room the size of my walk in closet rents for $1000 a month. The victims of Bank fraud are all of the other customers who aren’t getting sweet heart deals. Even if they aren’t directly customers of the bank, the rent they pay is the result of the owner of that closet not getting lower rates because that advantage has already been used up by Trump.
