I suspect that you’re seeing what we sometimes call “the bike shed syndrome”: When a company plans a new building, the committee often seems to spend an inordinate amount of time discussing the bike shed. Because everybody understands … or at least understands about bike sheds, but a lot of the rest of the building is well outside their comfort zone. It does play out a little differently when the folks only think they understand something.
If “All politics is local,” what can be more local than something that may affect the mortality of your own body? And therefore most politically sensitive?
Get a doc to treat you with the zinc + ionophore (+ an antibiotic if you might have a bacterial infection too) protocol.
You’re in the early stage of CV so stuffing your cells with zinc to stop replication should get you a quick clear-up. You could self-treat if you like: zinc & blueberries (which have a lot of quercetin, a safer and more readily available if also less-efficient ionophore than HCQ. Plus they taste good)
Don’t let them put you into hospital unless you can trust them to treat you curatively with a protocol known to have a curative effect. No “experiments” that have already been shown to be crap, like HCQ + antibiotic.
Thanks for your kind wishes, everyone. As some of you know, I am fully vaccinated and double boosted. If I weren’t, I don’t know that I would still be alive to write this.
I have a long history of pulmonary illnesses dating back to childhood. I have had asthma, undiagnosed and untreated for decades, pneumonia half a dozen times, bronchitis more times than I can count, swine flu. So there’s lots of scar tissue and anything like this is very very hard on me. So I’m definitely struggling, especially because I also have the flu at the same time. (Yes, I had the flu shot.) But I’m hanging in there and I will keep everyone posted.
Here’s hoping that 1) Omicron is for real (very little sequencing done, at least in the U.S.), 2) it’s as “mild” (or at least non-fatal) as it looks like it is, and 3) that’s what you have. Even a cold is miserable, much less a flu, and adding COVID to the mix is scary.
Best wishes Ted. You are right. COVID is a major issue, but climate change or nuclear devastation is far more likely to kill us as a species. Malaria is a far more serious disease However, the reactions of people to the current pandemic is very telling. We are completely screwed if we ever have to face a more deadly disease.
COVID-19 no trivial matter. It has already killed millions of people worldwide, including more Americans than all U.S. wars combined. But yes, I wish people would care about all those other things, too.
I’m very glad you protected yourself, Ted. It is likely that those measures will ensure you will come though your infection with little or no harm, in spite of your relevant pre-existing conditions.
Please get vaccinated, folks. Protect yourselves, but also protect those around you like Ted here. He deserves better than he’s getting.
May you have a speedy recovery and not have long covid.
Something that I found more or less by accident is that when I have the sniffles, I apply a little hand sanitizer at the nostrils (not deep, just at the opening) The sniffles go away for a while. You could also use one of the small (about 1″×1″) alcohol wipes. It’s not a big thing, but when you’re sick, little things help.
The Israelis found that Fenofibrate (which I take to reduce my Triglycerides), can help reduce the recovery time for covid. It is a medicine which has been around for something like 50 years, and should be safe with most other meds (but check with a pharmacist and your doctor). It reduces the lipids upon which the Corona virus feeds, so there seems to be a reasonable expectation for it to help. You would need a prescription.
Vitamins will cure covid . . . yeah. I recently learned of a relative who died of covid. That’s exactly what she believed, and why she didn’t get vaccinated. She refused the antibody treatments too. It was very sad. I am glad you’re vaccinated and taking care of yourself; you’re doing what you can to improve your odds. Good luck!
Ted, we may have disagreed on many things, but I am sorry you have gotten Covid. Trust me, it isn’t just you. AOC got it, after all. Omicron is highly contagious (more so than earlier forms of the virus). My nephew in NYC got asymptomatic Covid during Christmas time, but he’s fine now. You just rest and keep your doctor’s number handy if things get worse, but this too shall pass.

I am fully vaxxed and got the new and improved variant. It went away when I installed Windows 11. Thanks, Bill!

I hope it passes quickly and uneventfully, Ted. Unfortunately, Covid has to take a number in the litany of issues the U.S. is ignoring.
