Tell me when you’ve seen enough of these stories to change your mind about voting for Biden. His mind is shot and you know it. Biden claims he took train over Francis Scott Key Bridge ‘many, many times’ – despite there being no rail lines.

Ford made model T’s in several colors initially (red and blue, I think, and maybe green). When the assembly line was installed, Ford being interested in speed, efficiency, lower costs and higher profits, made black the T’s standard color. The word “motor” generally means and electric motor when the category is vehicular prime movers — the only variant that I’m aware of “motor” instead of “engine” is its occasional use for tractor prime movers.

So we have Bok spewing lies as always — even in this non-political category.

Should have never let Henry Ford put all those wagon makers out of work, and what about those poor telegraph operators impacted by the invention of telephone? Keep up with progress or get the hell out of the way.

@chipbok – not really true. “The final rules impose greenhouse gas pollution limits that will force automakers to ramp up sales of new zero-emission cars and light-duty trucks from about 7% of vehicles sold today to more than 67% by 2032.”

So the thumb is on the scale. They are shaping the market, but hey, I’d be willing to remove all incentives for solar, wind, battery storage etc AS LONG AS we remove ALL incentives for oil & gas, including clawing back all the way to 1950 and requiring O&G to pay for all environmental damage done since 1950.

An interesting side note to the advent of the automobile is how conservatives of the day thought they would never work, were unreliable and would not handle the roads. The old saying was “Get a Horse”. Traditionally, conservative have scoffed at new technology, but now we’ve reached the point where it has been politicized and used to manipulate voters. I worry that the return of serious diseases is just the beginning.

Vast quantities of high voltage transformers are also required to enable the power grid to distribute requisite electricity to charging stations, large apartment complexes and homes. These transformers have multi year delivery constraints and the necessary copper and other components are in short supply.

The EPA (and Biden) is not outlawing internal combustion engines. It is setting tighter pollutant emission levels for the future. It does suggest that manufacturers can more easily comply with their fleet emissions averages if they sell somewhat more than half of their new vehicles as EVs – but it is NOT outlawing petrol fueled vehicle sales. If manufacturers can continue to engineer petrol fueled vehicles that emit less less pollution – lowered enough to meet the new standards – then those vehicles are fine.

Odd that people want to cling to high pollution levels.

Also, one way to lower petroleum prices is via reduced demand. ICE vehicle lovers benefit from EV drivers since EVs don’t consume petroleum, lowering demand which in turn should lower gasoline and diesel prices. Also, there is a finite amount of oil remaining. Lowering demand extends its availability. ICE vehicle lovers can use their vehicles years longer.

Not true, not even remotely true.

EVs are more efficient. Even if the electricity is sourced from fossil fuels, that’s still an improvement.

The technology is improving rapidly. It won’t be long until the internal combustion engine is a relic of the past.

According to the Orange One, you can have any President you want, as long as it’s HIM. If he wins, it’s because he’s the best choice, forget pesky things like losing the popular vote. If he loses, it’s a fraud. Period. Because he said so, that’s why. He’s already celebrating a victory. If he loses? He will spend the next four years crying about it.

Why don’t you show a smidgen of sanity, Bok? How about: “You can have any motor you want as long as it doesn’t continuously spew large amounts of carbon dioxide that collectively amounts to one of the major causes of the runaway global warming that is causing the obvious and accelerating climate changes that are going to destroy the fairly benign Earth climate patterns that humanity has lived with for uncounted millennia, and cause enormous suffering and death for humanity and all the other creatures on this planet.” How delusional and crazy do you have to be to think that fact is equivalent to Henry Ford only offering one color paint on Model T’s in 1923? Are you just another crackpot science denier?
