Less violent to me means they don’t have to graphically show every gruesome detail just because they can. Alfred Hitchcock was a master of suspense, and he showed very little actual gruesome details. It was all in getting you worked up with expectation.
In the seventies, a friend of mine had a 45 record of “John and Martha”. Never heard it since, but all it was- a woman saying, “John” and a man replying, “Marsha” over and over with different emotions. When through love, to ambivalence, to questioning, to argument, to breakup, to reconciliation, to love again, as best I can remember. It was funny as anything, and so well done. Anyone else know anything about it?
