I believe the statement made by an Air Force officer back in the 1960s concerning UFOs: “It they were real, (i.e.: actual alien spacecraft), all of us majors would be colonels.”
I’m not happy with this loony character that GBT equipped Boopsie with. She was introduced as not highly intelligent when she first appeared (Sep.71) but she didn’t need to have this crazy side. Has always bothered me a bit. Yes I shouldn’t let comic figures all that near to my heart, I know (except, of course, for Frank … still hope he’ll get back together with his Fran in a follow-up to the Congress of the Animals)
Interstellar traveling vessels do require some intelligence to build. So far, aliens are not worried about us exporting our stupidity.
In the original film"The Day the Earth Stood Still," the aliens were afraid of us exporting our stupidity and threatened to take steps to prevent that. But the story upon which it was partially based, “Farewell to the Master” was very, very different from the movie. In the story, Klaatu is shot by a civilian, not an Army soldier. True to form for America, the shooter was mentally deranged, convinced that the alien was the devil…
Sounds like a repressed memory of a really bad hitchhiking experience. I knew a woman who was killed hitchhiking. She was a peace-loving flower child, very sweet but too acid-addled to be wary.
Humans are very visually oriented. This is reflected in our vocabularies, where we have many more words related to vision than to smell. And our memories and our dreams can summon up visual images that we’ve previously experienced. We’re not nearly as good at recreating smells, so interestingly it’s the actual experience of a smell that calls back the memory of when it was experienced earlier.

50+ years later and Boopsie still has that wide-eyed, clueless look to her.

I don’t believe aliens are visiting us, but having said that, I think it’s only fair to point out that absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

If aliens wanted to study intelligent species, they certainly wouldn’t come here.

I’m surprised that daughter can find amusement in her mother’s trips into la-la land. Dad is somewhat resigned.
I"m wanting to hear about her ‘’Real Dad.’

His victims keep falling for the grey rubber mask and the weird lighting.
