I’m telling you…go to Haiti!!! The government is in turmoil and will leave you alone. The folks on the street hate hospitals and doctors so THEY won’t force you to wear a mask. The weather is pleasant so you can sit on the beach and sip Margaritas (until the next hurricane or earthquake, anyway).
(Not that this is another “insurrection” blunder but unfortunate to have this publish a day after Santa Rosa was smothered in smoke from a 50 acre grass fire. Lotsa PTSD in these parts…)
“And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.
For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"
If I were so inclined, I could actually research the years and names involved. I recall that in the late 1970’s or early 1980’s, the US National Park Service Director set a policy to allow forest fires to burn themselves out — in order to prevent the accumulation of undergrowth that would lead to large, uncontrollable wildfires. There was such public outcry over this policy (“You must put out all fires — because that’s what you’re supposed to do with fires”) that the policy was overturned. Now, we’re dealing with the results of that reversal.
The indigenous populations on the North and South American continents used controlled burns to manage the forests for over 13,000 years. But we’re too damn smart for that…
Earth’s breathable atmosphere is approximately 6 kilometers thick. With a circumference of 40 075 kilometers and 75% covered with water. When you screw the planet up there aren’t a lot of places left to go. The idea of running for the hills is quaint. You might be better off digging a hole, provided the ocean doesn’t come in and fill it up.
I almost feel sorry for Cartoon-Boy! But he chose to live in Cally-fortunia, where if the wildfires don’t get you, nor the drought, the mudslides will! —So sayeth my California friends (for I indeed have such)….
