When my last toaster died I didn’t get a new one. Now if I want toast I fry it in a pan, which works for me. The 2-3 times a year I want to buy a box of Pop-Tarts or Toaster Strudels I miss it though.
First trip to England, ordered “Full breakfast.” Server asked “Brown toast or white?” Led to a brief but instructive cultural exchange. There’s truth in the saying: “The English and Americans are two peoples divided by a common language.”
Is this some kind of new co-ordination test that requires lifting a drinking glass with one hand but two hands for toast? Maybe they are just heavily into toasting. :)
