    Then there are the gag cards, like the inevitable Texas jackalope, or the card showing a naked toddler at the beach with the inevitable caption “I’m a little behind in my correspondence.”

    Since she’s trying to get in touch with long-lost parents, a photo of her is probably the best thing she could send.

    My husband did a number of free portrait events. At one point, there was a homeless family that emailed pictures of them with their new baby to the grandparents. They hadn’t talked in years, but the photo gave them a way to get back in touch.
