Ohoiana is like the Hollywood Walk of Fame or the Guinness Book of World Records: You pay to get in. Tommy’s never going to forgive not getting that Pulitzer, where it’s based on merit.
Boy, that was a real nail-biter! I was deathly afraid that the book festival organizers might not accept Dinkleberg! Now I can relax and enjoy the excitement to come!
can we get a deserted island joke a mayfly joke lemmings jumping off a cliff but im sure someone reading this spit out there drink thinking these two fossils are hilarious .
Wait… yesterday we saw Liz and Harry in the church, and she suggests he should submit his book to the festival. Today we see Liz and Harry in the church, and he’s saying he was accepted. So we are to believe that in a period of 24 hours (or less, given they are dressed the same as yesterday), he’s submitted his book, it’s gone to Ohioana World Domination HQ, been read, judged and found worthy, and they’ve notified him of his acceptance? Seems a bit… implausible.
Even though Harry’s shown holding his phone, suggesting he did the submission and received the acceptance through online technology (something Batiuk sneers at and would certainly not approve of his author-avatar characters using), it still seems implausible.
Unless, of course, the only thing that needed to be judged and accepted was the credit card Harry used to pay the entry fee (thank you billsplut for that useful bit of information).

Why are we supposed to like this smarmy, sneering egomaniac again? Oh right, he’s the author!

Again, stereotypically, if Harry, and, Lil were younger, they might be trying to sell each other “something” else.

She writes murder mysteries and he writes about music and himself, I don’t understand why he thought there would be any competition at all.
