John is not even knee deep in water. Where did the rushing water go? I have a couple of theories:

    1. Elly, who was hanging on his coat so John would not fall in the water and be swept away is now standing a good distance away from John as if he smells bad. Maybe Elly forced John to stay out there longer with April until she dried off enough to get that wet dog smell off of her and while they were waiting for that to happen, the water died down.

    2. The rushing water pulled off April’s shoes and socks off, so maybe John was out there waiting for the water to die down, so he could look for April’s shoes and socks.

    3. Gramma Carrie has arrived, so maybe John was waiting for her to bring a camera so she could take pictures of him rescuing April.

    4. Maybe the water died down while Elizabeth was busy rescuing Farley because they did not want to bring April to the land unless Farley was there to share the moment with her.

Panicking beforehand is a waste of energy. Panicking during a crisis is counterproductive at best. What does that leave? Yes. Coming unglued afterward is the only logical time. So, crying after she’s safe makes sense. Of course, I speak as one who is trained for emergencies, and seen more than my share. I come unglued after emergencies as well.

Spoiler alert: I usually spoil things, but I’m all hopped up on caffeine, so I am very alert.

Wow… I’ve never seen a river constantly change depth from deep to shallow to deep to shallow to deep to shallow so quickly!

I congratulate the dog, he is the hero of the day, he showed the courage and care expected of his breed.

Their reactions were correct right down to the point that the adrenalin wears off and it is time for other emotions to emerge

It’s so true – during a crisis, there’s simply NO TIME to cry!

What do “For Better or Worse”, “Old Yeller”, “Turner and Hooch”, and “John Wick” have in common?

John, Elly and April were thrown though the rapids.

    When the biggest earthquake happened.

    Plunging them 1000 feet below.

To the Land of the Lost.

    ROAR!

Some people don’t cry, or show much emotion, until the crisis is over. Then they know all is well and they can release whatever is built up. That’s how I deal with things. I wait.

I love the comics. Most I have read way before. Reruns like Calvin & Hobbes, For Better or For Worse, Peanuts, Nancy, and on and on. If someone is new to a certain comic…I do not bring up the end. I do wait to see if there is some changes to the plot from the original posting. But to mess with another reader, to rob them of the ending to me is childish. Yes I remember this episode of For Better Or For Worse….but why should I be so childish as to ruin it for those who have not read it before. I do thank Lynn Johnston for turning a lot of the plots around from the original posting. Lets just grow up and enjoy the comics.

No spoilers. But that reaction from Grandma is totally unrealistic. In a situation like that, your adrenaline would be so high, you’d burst into tears when it was resolved, not calmly smile and talk about it.

Will anyone shed any actual droplets coming out of their eyes? I know the readers will, but will any of the characters be shown crying? Gramma Carrie mentions it, but will anyone actually do it? It will be interesting to see if happens.
