From Lynn’s Comments: The idea for this cartoon was “given to me” by a man who was trying to cap off a water system that was being installed in a friend’s inground swimming pool. When he reached up to stop the water coming from a pipe, it gushed down his arm and through his waterproof suit onto the ground—soaking him from head to toe.
In 1999 Hurricane Floyd dropped a tree on our house while we were on vacation. Several days after we came home, I noticed the dining room ceiling had “sparkles” on it. I reached up to point them out to Hubby, and discovered the suspended tiles were full of water. It had to same effect as April’s downspout!
We have hot water heat, and the impact of the tree had snapped one of the pipes. which resulted in all the water in the system pouring into the dining room ceiling.
When my little sister was a toddler back in the 60s, she would strip down in the rain and wear nothing but rainboots and an umbrella because “she didn’t want to get her clothes or hair wet”.
Somebody needs to explain to April (as my mother explained to me) that the water gushing out of the downspout under which I was standing was washing all the bird poop off the roof.

April’s version of the joke done with Elizabeth on Sunday, April 28, 2013. Once again, April gets Elizabeth’s hand-me-downs, including her jokes.

In panel #3, one of April’s legs is blue; the other is purple. Looks like the colorist goofed.

Uhm, it’s March and they live in Canada. I would think that the water is way too cold to be doing that?

when I was a kid in the 60’s, everyone had a yellow rain coat and hat, do kids still wear these ? I’ve not seen them in stores in decades.
