Gravity’s Rainbow is waiting its turn.

“OK, try this: We read something else or you can have this book club next week all by yourself.”

Maybe they could all take a field trip to “Komix Korner”.

So, uh… where’s your sister right about now, Lillian? Oh, right.

Also, I’ve heard smoking can help cure dementia in this universe, too. Just ask that Morton Winkerbean guy. (Or has that not happened yet? Silly time-traveling janitor shenanigans.)

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer book.

If it’s James Joyce’s Ulysses they’ve been attempting to read, there must be some allegedly “interesting” passages in it, for it to be supposedly “banned in Boston” at one time. That might be why Lil is hanging on to reading it.

Uh-oh. Dissension in the ranks. Lillian is losing control. Is there a bloody coup in the offing?

Let’s hope so. Fingers crossed.

You want challenging try War and Peace or Anna Karenina by Tolstoy or The Gulag Archipelago by Solzhenitsyn.

Let Lil read Ulysses if she wants while the rest of them read 50 Shades of Grey.

Two years to read a book that takes place in ONE DAY . . .

Try reading “Maus” or “Run”, or “Drops of God”. Graphic novels and Manga are great for older folks!

Judging by the third panel, they’ve managed to read less than a third of the book in two years. The book group’s moving almost as slow as Batty’s plot.

Actually, the audio book is pretty entertaining. (Our library carries it.)

Three years? They drowned in the stream of consciousness.

If you can’t read the book in a three year period, that ain’t going to prevent dementia. Actually trying to read that over and over when you hate it might be a sign.

Ulysses was too much for me too. Have given it several tries but haven’t gotten past page 50. And don’t get me started with Finnegan’s Wake.
