Best Friend Forever- that ship has sailed

Well, this quite the conversation between long-lost siblings.

Hah, called it. Jealous.

Your BFF is a liar? Where is your evidence? Bernice is lucky that she has a BFF.

So apparently the snark is genetic.

By the look of Ben’s sweater, he still likes to wear Army Olive Drab.

So by the logic of certain commenters, Luann has the right to barge in and demand a full accounting of their conversation since her name got said.

Bernice, you couldn’t even fool your brother who you don’t know well. He knows you’re jealous big time. You are acting like a jealous ninny. And soon you will feel like a foolish ninny when you find out it wasn’t Jack.

Of course this boils down to Jack, which it is not

Like I said last week, Luann allowed Bernice to believe something that was not true. Granted, Luann can’t read Bernice’s mind, nor control what she believes. But a week ago, it was clear that Luann knew Bernice thought it was Jack, and took a bit of joy in having intentionally deceived Bernice.

Luann lied.

“Like I’m interested.” Another lie.

Brother and sister united at last.

So far neither Luann nor Bernice have behaved like understanding BFFs. Luann is wrapped up in her Frisky-risky rush and Bernice’s green-eyed monster is in full sway.

So far it’s a good story. Let’s sit back and enjoy the ride! 8^ )

Maybe Bernice will get some brotherly advice! Come to think of it, Luann could use a few big brother words of advice too!

I’m feeling totally uncomfortable about what Luann is up to here. Giving the keys to the Fuse to Tara looks like a mistake that could have huge repercussions.

Why drag Ben into this? What would a grown man care about Bernice and Luann’s childish antics? He must be so bored!

Wow Bernice, you’re not interested in Jack but you’re mad because you think Luann is trying to “hijack” him? Bernice is acting like she wants to be an old maid while secretly wanting a fling and she wants Luann to stay single right along with her.

Remember Jacque and Beatrice dream sequence where Jacque becomes enthrall with Luann? Bernice has a deep rooted inferiority notion that dates back to the 3rd Grade where she played 2nd fiddle to Luann’s life of prominent trepidations.

It was none of her bussiness, as well not her house or life. Bernice is judgemental and gossipy. If she continues like that Ann Eifell will look like a saint !

Ben York, a former Army Sergeant, who is married and has worked overseas, should tell Bernice to get off the merry-go-round of envy.

Not sure who is looking worse here – Luann is being incredibly stupid and Bernice is being incredibly b-witchy.

At least she is binding with her newfound brother.

On the positive side, at least she no longer has a hangup about talking to her brother.

I am really surprised that Bern did not follow Luann to the dog park, she heard Luann mention it. Perhaps it is too far from the DeGroots for Bern to go by foot and Luann drove….. Anyhow, now Bern is projecting her insecure fears to Ben. I guess in a way it is good as she is talking with her bro. However, its obvious Bern has some major trust issues going on, very cynical and she is just imagining the worst possible scenarios (to her ) in her mind. Luann is not really at fault here but she did allow a seed to get planted and grow by leaving Bernice out of the Tara saga. BTW, I disliked Tara kind of blaming Bern for getting tossed out of the U, if Luann really thought Bern was her BFF, I think she might have spoke up. It seems like their friendship is being strained. Some truth and transparency would resolve this but that certainly is not Luann’s or Bern’s forte! Anyhow, maybe its time for Bern to resolve things with Ben and find a way to move back home.

Didn’t we go through this scenario a year ago with Gunther? Unfounded gossip? They couldn’t have come up with a different scenario?

Bernice should not be spreading a story about Luann that’s not true. She could damage Luann’s reputation, not to mention Jack’s reputation. Get the facts before repeating an assumption.

Now Borenice is lying. She only heard one side of the conversation. She has gone beyond snark.

OK. Bernice, one more time: NOT your house. Not your business. (They can ask you to leave at any time.)

I hope Bernice doesn’t hurt herself jumping to conclusions.

I know Ben & Bernice are siblings but the resemblance is bordering on weird.

A comedy of errors- without the comedy.

Ben is a quick study and he will be a good tempering effect on Bernice who, right now, is jumping to conclusions without the evidence and spreading rumor, something that she righteously railed against to Luann. But likely it won’t travel farther than Ben though he may advise Luann to be straight with Bernice. The groundwork has been layed (last week and prior) for many stories to come.

Now, let the games begin. In the first event we’ll have mud slinging 101. And folks this should be a real dirty match between these gals.

What a train wreck! Besides is making totally asinine assumptions about her “best friend” (and spreading gossip), She should realize that if it really was Jack in Luann’s room, it would mean her is not interested in her. Although Luann making out with a boy she knows Bernice is in love with would be massively cruel (if it were true). I’m surprised she’s not stalking him all over town. And as usual, there are massive holes in this whole story. She has no way to be sure it was Jack. She never heard his voice. She did however, have the chance to go to the dog park to find out for sure, but decided to stay home talking to Puddles instead. I guess it’s just more comfortable to wallow in delusions than to face facts.

I know how settle this “Bernice likes Jack,” business, once and for all.

Make arrangements for Jack to kiss Bernice.

If the “results” are anything like that infamous “Piro Kiss” a few years ago, Bernie will quickly forget Jack even exists. And return to her “old normal,” snarky, self-righteous self. ;)

Who and how the adult Luann allows someone in her life isn’t anybody else’s business until she MAKES it their business. Luann is in the process of making Tara at the Fuse her parent’s business, but nothing that has transpired so far is Bernice’s affair.

Well, someone had to take the Ann Eiffel’s place as the baddie in these stories now that she is gone. So here is her replacement.

Can someone explain to me why Tara needs to keep her need for a place to stay a secret? This whole story seems as unbelievable as a 1950s sitcom.

So nice to see Bernice discuss her problems with Ben. She was so afraid to meet her brother and see them now♡♡♡. On the other hand, Bernice totally believes that Luann and Jack are having a secret relationship and she seems unable to think otherwise. Fortunately, Ben seems to have doubts. It’s time for the older brother to show his wisdom by helping her ♡.

And exactly how do you know that Luann and Jack have betrayed you? Do you have any proof?

I had to go back and re-read the past week and half’s worth of comics to make sure that there was absolutely no reason for Bernice to even assume that it was Jack.

Sure hope Bernice’ rush to judgement on the word or bark of a dog doesn’t get back to Frank and Nancy.

What I’m getting here is that Bernice isn’t just a sexless, intimacy-averse prig, she’s also a scold. As such, just the IDEA that someone else is having physical fun fills her with RAGE!

Mayhaps, Bernice might make a move on Jack

Maybe Bern and Ben might see Tara coming out of the Fuse on their walk.

Judgmental and nasty, it’s time to write Bernice out of the strip. Bring back Pru or Rosa, much better characters. Bernice would be a better fit in Zits

Wow! Bernice is officially the worst person in this comic, (after Ann). She is spreading lies about 2 people who are supposed to be her friends and she is damaging their reputations. Hopefully Ben won’t repeat the gossip but Ben has no idea that Bernice is lying. This is worse than anything Luann has ever done. I hope Bernice gets tossed out of the DeGroots house really soon. Nancy and Frank have no idea what an awful person she is.

Sigh…Bernice sure comes off like and idiot. I know, she loves Jack (or thinks she does), and that clouds your judgment, but still…

Jack is going to be furious because of Bernice’s assumptions!

Both Luann and Berenice are at fault here, and I foresee a big fight down the line.

January 2020 saw Luann signaling jealousy over Gunther’s love life with Bets. In January 2021 we start an arc of Bernice signaling jealousy over Jack.

First. It is interesting that Greg has this long term infatuation with Luann and Gunther as sweethearts. He really wants to pair them up. He also has a problem pairing Jack up with somebody in a similar way as Luann and Gunther. Maybe Bernice and Jack has finally clicked in his mind.

Oh Bernice, you definitely have ahold of the wrong end of the stick. You only think you’re mad now. Wait until you find out what Lu is REALLY up to.

Bernice wanted to believe it was Jack in the box!

It’s good that Bernice is walking with and able to share her feeling with her brother. But she did make a huge leap in thinking it was Jack in Luann’s bedroom. And Luann did stoke the fire by saying she was going to the dog park (without the dog). Bernice can deny her feelings for Jack, but unless he feels the same way, that goes nowhere. However, Tara’s requesting secrecy and Luann’s actions and coverup is sure to backfire and cause more harm than good, not only to her reputation, but to her own relationships.

We are in the young adult phase of Luannverse and issues that affect young adults and relationships is really the sine qua non of this set of arcs. I mean there is the issue of Tara and being given the keys on the sneak by Luann, the issue that Bernice has with not confronting her true feelings (possibly for Jack), the belief that Luann is lying, which she is, but not for the reason that Bernice has decided, the relationship between her and her calmer, wise brother. Lets hope any foreboding I have will be eventually solved by a nice reasonable hilarity ensues conclusion. We are at the mercy of the creators here.

Luann lied to Bernice for a good cause to protect the person.

There are two lies here anyway. The first one and most important to this situation: “Did you ask her about it?” “Yes” … Ber(not)nice didn’t ask if Luann spent the night with Jack. And the other “Psh. Like I’m Interested”. It’s all on Bernice buddies, she just had to ask the question and name Jack but she didn’t.

Also, to fuel the discussion, remember Tara said she never wears underwear. :)

Bern got over her inferiority pretty fast to be baring her soul to Ben. Her calling Luann a liar and then spreading a story about her is loathsome. Jack was never mentioned by name by anyone: Bern assumed Jack is the only guy in Luann’s world, and Luann didn’t even think about it being Jack (at first). Luann decided that Bern deserved no clarification especially after the glass to the door and Bern making up a lame excuse about it. Bern is out of bounds on everything, and needs to go home.

I’m just glad to see Ben again. Nice to have another character who’s a bit older than the college crew.

Cranky Bernie. —There hasn’t been any other kind for years, Bro. Her main exercise these days is Leaping to Conclusions….

When did Bernice and Ben become such confidants that she would feel comfortable discussing Luann’s relationships with Ben.

Fair Warning. I will do my best but once AGAIN a friend has died. My long time (40 years) friend Irene died suddenly over the weekend. Not COVID. Just did not wake up. I am very upset. So if I snap at you more than my usual sarcasm these next few days please understand. I am hurting a lot these last 3 weeks. I will be checking in. Impossible to say how many posts but i will do everything to give others the benefit of the doubt.

That is how things get started. People assume what they think they know and tell others things that aren’t true.
