I grew up at a time when Americans cared about each other more than their political beliefs. There was no detachment from our neighbors because they were Democrats or Republicans, fans of different teams, had different ethnic backgrounds, or went to worship in different places … we were all citizens of the United States and proud of it. This was a time before the 10 commandments had morphed into the 10 suggestions making it OK to lie, cheat and deceive to gain control or prove a point.
The Russians were only temporary allies during WWII and afterwards we could not accept their inhumanity and suffering they imposed on others even though they were seen as one of the superpowers. Clearly they were not interested in letting everyone have a voice in their regime. And they have a history of poisoning people that could cause problems using unique means that are traced back to them. The Communist dictatorship fell, but it’s malicious spirit seems to linger.
The world looks at the US very differently today and sees a once powerful united nation now very divided and their leader spurning allies and making deals with their former enemies … with politicians not caring about it.
In a letter to the NRA’s top lawyer, Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon also asked whether the powerful gun lobby group can state firmly that it has “never wittingly or unwittingly” received money “from individuals or entities acting as conduits for foreign entities or interests.”
Wyden first sent queries to the NRA in early February in response to a McClatchy News report that the FBI was investigating whether Alexander Torshin, a top Kremlin central banker with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, had funneled money to the organization. The NRA gave an unusually early endorsement to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in May 2016 and became his biggest financial backer, spending $30 million on his behalf.
The group forged particularly close ties with Torshin, who attended several of its national conventions, hosted senior NRA officials on a December 2015 trip to Moscow and helped found a Russian gun-rights group in 2013. The FBI got interested in Torshin after Spanish law enforcement authorities issued a secret investigative report that found he helped Russian organized crime figures launder money into banks and hotels in Spain — an allegation Torshin has denied.
Huge outside money and Donald Trump staking his own personal integrity (ha) on the outcome of the special election in Pennsylvania’s 18th CD didn’t seem to do the trick.
But notice what it took to do it: Distaste and disgust over the most outrageous president in American history. Absent that factor, big money will once again rule the roost.
The Republicans can find no evidence of Russians – because some of the House members are tied up in this. They know this investigation will get more than the White House, and have no intention of pointing fingers which will eventually come back to them.
Obviously, NO honest and intelligent person calls the meticulous examination of potential crimes (and potential treason) a “witch hunt”, which probably explains why Trump calls it that. As for the Republicans on the committee: how much testimony did they hear from Flynn (who already has plea-bargained a ton of crimes down to a pound), or Gates (plea-bargained half a ton down to half a pound), Papadopolous (ditto) or Manafort (as obvious a traitor as can be imagined)? The answer: NONE. They never called them to testify! This has to be, at the very least, the most INCOMPETENT bunch of idiots ever to run around loose on any Congressional committee. Or, possibly they are in collusion with the White House…….
For the record, the House committee in question concluded that Russia did in fact attempt to manipulate the 2016 elections. They also concluded that there was no evidence that the Russians attempted to manipulate the election in favor of Don Juan. How deeply they looked at the latter question is a matter of some debate.
Please place my cold lifeless form to the side of the salad of the ordered tomorrow by the GOP Congressman who chooses to retire tomorrow after what happened in Pennsylvania.

TRUMPITES AND BEARS {1.40 limericks}
The RepCong states their conclusion
that they’ve not found a collusion
‘tween Trumpites and Bears.
Their committee declares
that the Trumpites’ inclusion
is false, – an illusion
by folks who seek Donald’s preclusion.

Maybe “House Comm.” is short for “House Communists”…? That might explain it.

Of course, to have found any, we would’ve had to be looking. Without the blindfolds. And recognizing it when it was screaming in our faces.
