I read it, and I agree that we’re defining “happiness” differently, but I stand by my definition. You see my definition as “contentment,” while I see yours as “pleasure.” (Not to dismiss pleasure out of hand; that’s part of the wild strawberry story). And while brain chemistry is a factor I’d omitted, immediate circumstances still have little to do with happiness. Perhaps it isn’t as simple as “choosing” to be happy, but it can be cultivated; in some cases pharmaceutical assistance is needed, but in others it simply starts with the determination to be happier.
