Oh no, not Lupin too! I hope Puck is wise enough to heed the warning!

i can’t imagine trying to take 3 kitties to the vet! i used to take 2, and i always considered the hardest part over if i could get them both in their carriers. bentley was 19 pounds, and he could always smell a rat if he even heard the sound of his carrier being taken out. (i don’t have a place to set even one carrier out at the moment. bentley passed last year and i miss him when ever i see his carrier.)

Right now I have one cat unhappy on the screen porch and one unhappy in a bedroom. It is flea/tick treatment day and I have to keep them from grooming each other so they don’t get an outside treatment in their insides. It’s Val’s fault, if he would cut out the attempts to get outside…..but they are young and fast and I am old and slow so it is only a matter of time. So we are being preemptive. Many ticks and fleas lurk in the grasslands and woods for the unwary kitty.

I imagine Lupin’s deafness makes him hard to warn.

It’s best to trap the most troublesome cat first. Which is of course Elvis.

Use flea and tick on even indoor cats as you can bring in fleas and ticks from outside. Whenever working or playing in the yard, spray yourself with repellant. Strip clothes when come in, throw them in the washer, shower or bathe, and do a thorough body check especially. When working in the yard, wear long sleeves and pants, Use shipping tape to secure pant legs to socks and then wrap duct tape around with the sticky side out. This may seem extreme but it is worth it. My husband just spent nine days in the hospital, begining with emergency to ICU and three days there due to dehydration, renal failure and soft organs beginning to shut down due to a combination of HME, flu, and resulting dehydration. A month after discharge he is on half day at work and half day at home. He still is weak but improving daily. Our cats are indoor, get flea and tick treatments monthly, and still have found a flea each month on each. For your human and feline family members sake, please take extra precautions.

Being 79 years old and having 6 cats that I love dearly, I use an excellent MOBILE VET. She treats all six at once if necessary. No carriers, no hassle as she and her helper catch them as needed!

Having just had my baby to the vet for a swollen ear, I sense an unpleasant road trip for the boys. Had to “pour” mine into carrier from the cloth book bag in which I nabbed him. Every time it’s different. Follow-up in 10 days. Oh goodie. :-{ BTW — I agree! Get that flea/tick protection from vet! OTC stuff not as good. Vet gave us a tick removal gadget. Haven’t had to use, but nice to have on hand.

As much as I hate living here, the one good thing is that we don’t have fleas. It’s too hot and dry for the little critters. Don’t know about ticks, though.

My mom takes the carrier, puts it vertically, and picks the cat up and in a fairly quick motion – lowers the cat in. The cats (3 of them) all look puzzled then like Elvis. TREACHERY! Then of course, in the car, the singing starts. All the way to the vet.

My Cosmo once went into the ceiling area when I brought the carrier up from the basement. She knew a vet visit was in the plan.

For everyone looking for good flea and tick meds for cats Seresto collars are the answer. I had to switch my dog to them after all the liquids stopped working and the fleas moved into the house to the cats. The collars last 8 months and I can usually find them on sale online for between $40 – $50 each. For 8 months that’s a great price. I don’t buy them in store because the in store price is $65. My dog and cats get the Seresto collars and a don’t have flea or tick problems. I use Dr’s Foster and Smith online to get them and if you buy more then one you usually get a discount or a rebate. No more nasty liquids or having to separate dog from cats for me. Just 1 collar every 8 months then I throw the used collar on the screened in porch to deter any hitchhikers. Hope this helps.

We were giving our two flea and tick treatment each year in November, as they stop going outside for the next 4 or 5 months. Last year they both got nasty bald patches where the liquid was dabbed on. Don’t know what we’ll dothis year. :-/
