   We all have our fears and I don’t like it when people scoff at them. It might not make sense to somebody else and they might be irrational but that doesn’t make them any less real. I don’t like driving over canyons or bridges, going up in gondolas or up mountain roads where I can see down. Nope. Not looking.

   We do that at hotels. We take out trash, wash dishes. We only ask for clean towels every third day. We are very tidy travelers.

   We were on vacation in Scottsdale last week. One of the things my husband wanted to do was go to a D-Backs’ game. The ticket was $74. Parking was $25. He got a hotdog, soda, Crackerjacks and a bag of chips. $32 which I didn’t think was bad. For a family of 4, that would be $550. I only counted parking once. I don’t see how regular families can go to a lot of games.

   What DID cost was the stuff he got at the pro shop the day before the game. I didn’t go with him and when he handed me the receipt, I was stunned. I knew he’d be spending a bunch of money but $550? Really? For what he got? OMG. (I saved for this trip knowing it would cost so that wasn’t the issue)

   Brad is from Mesa so the D-Backs are his team. A friend said that teams change colors and designs all of the time so fans will buy new stuff. The last thing Brad bought was a purple jersey when the team was first franchised years ago.

   Got back a few hours ago. It took a full hour to get from the Phoenix airport to the road thru Wickenburg. And, this was at 3:30 AM. There was construction everywhere in the Phoenix and Scottsdale areas. And, through the gorge coming up here. No reason, either. No accidents, nothing. Anyway, on my second load of laundry, everything it put away and the truck is clean.

    We checked out of the Scottsdale hotel today after 7 nights. It was what I expected. The room was not: I was supposed to have an ADA room. When we got there, the clerk said there was a leak in it and she could move to a full, two bedroom, 2 bath suite for the same price. Who would turn that down? Not us. It was great!!
