Once read a review of a white wine. One part said it had hints of damp straw. I’ve been in stables and I know what makes straw damp and I don’t want my wine tasting like it. Though I admit some do.

Them craft brewers are busy little devils. Have to admit though, the availability of dark brown ales has gone up a pleasing bunch.

And yes, “Wine Snobs” that spew this drivel are a bunch of pretentious nitwits! Pour a bottle of MD20/20 into an expensive bottle, and I bet at least 50% COULDN’T tell the difference!

I don’t know if it’s possible to detect all those “hints” and “notes” and so on, but does that even matter? Shouldn’t you just choose beverages by taste and be done with it?

Admittedly, I know nothing about wine or spirits. I’ve been to wine tastings, didn’t like 99% of what I came across; then tasted a moscato d’asti and decided that I liked it: light, sweet, a little bubbly. That’s it. No overtones, hints or notes.
