That should have been “three shades of RED.” Red is the color associated with anger. Green is associated with envy/jealousy.

Charlie Brown might learn to regret that joke when Schroeder turns into the Hulk and smashes the daylights out of him!

It’s lovely to come across a strip that I’ve never seen, despite having been enamored of Peanuts since the 50s.

This joke must have been very different to read in its original B&W. Then, only the final panel would reveal the punchline with Schroeder’s face. Here, the final panel only tells us what we’ve already seen.
