You have to see the stuff you can’t afford this year because it will be obsolete next year.

Heaven forbid, an honest salesman. Gave ’em what they said they needed. What was he thinking?

No more need for the extended warranty. The Myans say the world is ending Dec. 2012. What’s the point, he asked facetiously.

I had … when I was in the small town of 3200 people … a guy come into the store I was working (didn’t own it…) and he said he wanted ‘a beast’. So I showed him the mid-range. Not good enough. So I showed him the “top of the line”. He wanted extra HDD’s installed (this was in 2005, when 500GB was ‘new’). So we added in 2 500gb HDD’s. Then he wanted 2 monitors – 1 a 24" LCD that was somewhere in the $1300 range, and one was an LG 19" one with built in TV tuner. Yes, TV Tuner. It cost another $900.

That happened to be the week my boss offered me a 10% bonus if I sold over $1000 in computers. He wasn’t happy when my week total was over $10,000 …

My new laptop cost about a 1/3 of the cost of my first laptop. I had looked at what was available, sort of decided, wasn’t sure. Came back the following week and asked the techie guy to pick for me. (I did give him a few guidelines). He picked out the laptop I had considered. Like that it cost less.
