Reminds me of attending a meeting where our branch’s executives were presenting our “State of The Business” report to executives from the main corporate office. Our head salesman had a similar chart showing new contract awards (way down after laying off most of our engineering staff about six months previously… engineering consultation was our main product).
When the corporate execs asked where our profit was going to come from, our head salesman said “It’s there – you just can’t see it.” Corporate shut down our branch a month later.
