When I was in the Navy, our ship made a port visit to Haifa, Israel. I was fortunate enough to take a two day tour of the Holy Land. Although it was a whirlwind tour, I was in a constant state of awe, seeing many of the places mentioned in the Bible. We first went to Nazareth, then went east by Cana and south to the river Jordan to Capernaum. We went further south and arrived in Jerusalem where we stopped to visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre where Christ was buried and drove by the Garden Tomb. Later we went by Gethsemane on our way to Bethlehem where we stopped to visit the Church of the Nativity. After that we headed to Tel Aviv, spent the night and returned to Haifa. That short visit was etched into my memory.
