The key to sugar is not having any.

People will STILL steal it. They’ll steal your MOTHER if she’s sittin’ around.

In order to avoid a problem with ants, as in the movie “THEM,” the Health Department insisted all sugar dispensers be securely locked. Better safe than sorry.

In early movies about conditions in the 20’s and 30’s, one showed a guy who got a cup of water, then mixed it with ketchup. Closest he could come to soup. Another one paid a nickel for coffee and dumped in a load of sugar. That was his meal for the day.

Dad told me of worse than that when he and his rr crew sat down in the caboose [also called ’the crummy] for a meal. Hobos and drifters would come to the door offering to take dump the trash, then would scrounge it for anything resembling food.

In those decades some had to take whatever they could find and try to survive. That hasn’t changed regardless of the glitter and hype of modern times.

That’s for display only, you have to bring your own sugar.

Wonder what would happen to over all health of the nation if cereal companies and others who use sugar in their products were to gradually reduce the amount used by increments over the next 5 years or so until it reached the most efficient level for taste and health.

Will never happen. Too much money to be made the old way. But interesting to see if it did, that is, if I made it to 93.

Went to Walmart the other day. They had locked up the soap: only the Dove, Yardley, and Olay. Apparently the other brands weren’t as in demand (eye roll). What is this world coming to?
