I have a home system with a stereo sub woofer set up. They allow low frequencies where it is not necessary to crank the rest of the system in order to coax out the bass. I get a fuller sound without blowing my head off. I seldom feel bass and would have to turn it up to do so. The loud cars can lead to their occupants losing hearing earlier in life.
At best our hearing runs from 20 Hz up to 20KHz, with diminishing returns later in life. There are charts that show where elephants can hear down to 4Hz with bats and others who hear well above our range.
This therapist must’ve studied with Henry Brandt. Dr. B wouldn’t be too popular today because he said, “There’s no such thing as mental illness – only varying degrees responsibility.”
