Low Sodium is the unheralded 2nd cousin.

Low sodium means reduced salt. Salt doesn’t just add a salty flavor to food, it also enhances many of the flavors already present. Therefore, reduced sodium often means less flavorful. Hence the cardboard flavor reference.

Given the odd names parents sometimes saddle their kids with, so they will be “unique,” I have little doubt that somewhere there is a child named Cheese.
