Although the kids meant well by shoveling a great big pile of snow in front of the door so that Nate can’t push his way out … but don’t most bedroom doors open up inside the bedroom? Which in my experience means pull instead of push.
They have a ship. Why don’t they spend the winter in some tropical place where there’s no ice and snow?
