She’s a coupon-er. Toothpaste has been a cornerstone of coupon-ing since I started in ‘08.Pay in “store money” and get MORE store money than she laid out for “buying” toothpaste. If we eked out every drop, we’d be building Crest forts in our living rooms. Good thing it’s donate-able.
You’ll notice NO manufacturer provides a way to get the last of the paste out. The old metal ones could be rolled but they prefer plastic. Aren’t we trying to get rid of plastics? Aren’t metals more recyclable?
I never realized I had anything in common with Rat. I’m currently working to squeeze out every last bit of toothpaste from the tube. One reason is my Dentist sold me a toothpaste they want me to start using. I don’t like the Dentist when they sell me crap I don’t want
I still have about 1 or 2 more brushings out of my dollar store ultra bright fluoride toothpaste tube. (Saw it listed as a “Best Buy” in consumer reports back in the 80’s)
First I use a hairbrush to “iron” all the remaining paste to the top, then I start pushing the into the top to get that last little bit. Bought replacement toothpaste over a month ago when I noticed it was getting low and I do brush daily.
Same thing with any product that comes in a bottle where you press on the top e.g. Vaseline lotion, hand cream etc. Once the level is below the suction mechanism, just cut the bottle open and scoop the last bits out with your fingers. You’ll get another week of use out of it.
I usually brush my teeth in the downstairs bathroom; She in the upstairs. When Hers gets that low, it comes down so I can use everything we paid for (She doesn’t have the strength to get that last week or two out of it; when I’m done, you could maybe cut it open and get one more day).
Actually I cut mine open and scrape out every last bit.
NOTE: It’s Sensodyne toothpaste, which is like $7.00 a tube, and they design the tube to leave at least two weeks worth of toothpaste stuck in the tube…
What about other items? I cannot let a container go without ensuring everything is out. I used to cut open containers after I realized there was still quite a bit inside the container. I read somewhere, they count on consumers not emptying containers because companies want people to buy new ones even if the current one is not completely empty.
This makes my better half so mad says it is embarrassing. I’m thinking how many people judge us by our toothpaste tube, and how many of them come into our master bath to inspect out toothpaste? 46 years later and that being our biggest problem. WIN WIN. Love her more today than I did 46 years ago. Y’all have a blessed Christmas and a super new year. Rember in your prayers our armed forces, First responders an teachers. Love all y’all

I think Rat was hinting that he wanted some squeezing, and he realized it wasn’t gonna happen.

@BasilBruce I don’t think she’d want to squeeze Rat like a tube of toothpaste, unless she was prepared for what would come out.

The problem with the new plastic toothpaste tubes is you can not roll them up ansd thus leave a lot of paste in them.
MS72 5 months ago
In “olden” days, people would take a razor blade and slit the metal toothpaste tube to get the last of the paste.

Why would she need toothpaste, when she has no mouth?

Yes I do. I also cut open tubes of lotion to scrape out every last bit. I am frugal and proud of it
