Not only is he wrong about the cause of urban decay, but it was the fleas on the rats that carried and caused the plague not the rats themselves.

Just look at Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, San Fran, NYC, Portland, etc. Look at the permissive crime, homelessness, drug abuse, the failing schools, the lack of law and order. Look at the mob of teenagers who looted in Chicago last weekend and violently attacked a bi-racial couple as one example.

All in a state of urban decay……all run by leftists for decades.

That urban decay disease caused by the blue and red donkey is a dangerous one. No technology can be created to cure it.

Check the facts bub….every major city that has been Democratic run for the past 50-60 years is a crap hole. Detroit, Baltimore, Chicago, St. Louis, Newark, etc

Take away people’s hopes for a fair system & give ’em gun & what you expect? Oh, you thought that was only for the white folk?

The mayor of my city has been in office for several years. Our downtown has gone through a wonderful transition creating a vibrant place to live and work. Do you really think it made a difference what party he’s affiliated with?

I will give credit. This is a clever cartoon. Sure it is based on willful ignorance and deliberate avoidance of any information that contradicts the author’s dogma, but it is clever…in a small minded way.

one thing I think contributing to the problem is something called TIF districts…. These ironically were supposedly designed to alleviate urban decay in very specific instances, but because cities (and towns, and counties) abuse and overuse them, using them merely to hand out grift to developers and financiers, they end up hurting the areas that use them. Studies have shown that areas that use them grow slower than areas that dont.

Animals causing disease? Really? This is so patently ignorant that there is really no point in continuing. Varvel should stay away from subjects about which he clearly knows nothing, which includes zoonosis. An infectious agent is not the cause of the disease, just a carrier (like unvaccinated humans).

Cities are the economic engines of the states. In GOP led states, there is a fundamental disconnect regarding that fact. Yet, their constituencies flock to the cities for their jobs, entertainment, etc. Then when the underfunded police can’t prevent Suzy Suburbia from having her phone stolen, it’s “see look at those cities run by Democrats”.

It would behoove the GOP to recognize this, they might only have CRT, trans people, Hunter Biden, etc. have to scare people.

In four years, Republicans couldn’t get a bill passed to help rebuild the country’s crumbling infrastructure. President Biden got it done in his first year with bipartisan help. Varvel couldn’t tell the truth, even if he was under oath in a court of law. In other words, he is the perfect spokesperson for today’s crop of Republican office holders.

The Republicans gut programs and reduce taxes on the wealthy, then complain when the the lower class and diminishing middle class don’t do better, all the why complaining about the deficit that their party created. It is the Wizard of Oz party; pay attention to what we are saying, not what we are doing.
