It’s not green policies that are so expensive, it’s companies like PG&E trying to make up for their losses after burning out several areas of California through shoddy or lack of maintenance.
Our family had a Grandpa like Lisa, who became irate over refitting our home from a coal furnace to natural gas, telling anyone who would listen just how expensive and damaging gas was and how coal was the only way to keep our country from disaster. We simply smiled and allowed Grandpa to vent until he died, and continued on into the future.
Lisa yearns for the good old days during which a good friend was advised that his young son’s breathing problems would improve only if they got his out of the Los Angeles area.
I don’t know about you Lisa, but I get paid for the power my solar panels generate in excess of what I use. It’s not a lot, but it’s money that does not go to PG&E shareholders and that makes me happy.
A carbon tax imposed at the source, then fully distributed in equal portions to the populace, would place the cost on those who use the most, while rewarding those who use less than the average. No nitpicking choices on subsidies for particular items, no Nosy Parker tracking of everything you buy. Let the “free market” do its job.
Ahh.. yes wonderful green California. Never mind that recently they had to fire up all their diesel peaking generators and churned out Megatons of CO2 with their natural gas plants, as the neighboring states that they buy electricity from couldn’t sell them any as they were using all they could produce. Even brain dead Newsome has woken up and stopped the closing of Diablo Canyon. Solar and wind are wonderful, but you need base load plants, build the new modular nuclear plants.
Lisa is wrong mostly because the demand for electricity is outstripping the supply and the demand is growing faster then the suppliers (oil and gas) and utilities can deliver. You can see this on the DOE website and McKinsey websites. Oil and gas companies pay ………. our politicians to keep drilling. Renewables alone is also limited for other reasons. Department of Energy has a “long duration energy storage” (LDES) moon shot goal that can dramatically improve the situation.
High prices for natural gas and gasoline reflect market forces over which most consumers have no control. Wind, solar and other renewable energy sources are gradually reducing the need for such fossil fuel power, but it can’t happen soon enough. Lisa is apparently ignorant of these facts (among many others).
I wouldn’t know. I have (green) solar energy and I pay $16 a month on my electric bill. That’s the service charge NV Energy charges me. I have electric 24/7 contrary to what MTG says. Everything is up because of greedy corporations.
And yet they still manage to increase our debt. Only a fool thinks a government that can’t fix pot holes can fix the weather as they rob social security to pay for their pet projects, launder money in the Ukraine and otherwise seek to oppress, lie to and rob the people.
Of course if you don’t understand or know this you probably vote Democrat, have all your booster shots, had a public education, can’t figure out which bathroom to use and still wear a mask in your car. YOU are part of the problem. Congratulations!
This cartoon perfectly reflects the attitude of today’s conservatives, especially those over thirty. They fear anything that might force them out of their comfort zone, and their primary concern is money.I find it tragically ironic that the same people who tout their “Christianity” also embrace what Christ called the root of all evil: the love of money.
The point of the cartoon is that green policies caused high energy prices in CA. Maybe looking at energy prices by state would prompt interesting guesses on cause and effect. I live in Florida where the average rate is 14¢/kWh vs California’s 25¢/kWh. Interestingly California’s neighbors’ energy Nevada and Oregon only pay 15¢/kWh and 11¢/kWh respectively. Here’s a link to look up your state. https://www.statista.com/statistics/630090/states-with-the-average-electricity-price-for-the-residential-sector-in-the-us/
There have been more attempts to divide California than anniversaries of its statehood in 1850. There have been at least 220 attempts to break up California.

Aside from the fact that the idea that green energy = expensive energy is a lie…
Do you want a low energy bill, or do you want future generations to survive?

Lisa believes that if fewer people had solar, electricity would cost less.
Because her knowledge of science rivals that of her knowledge of economics.
.
Dunno if she believes the noise from windmills cause cancer, like Her Messiah says.

Green policies have nothing to do with the Greedflation being committed by energy countries.

My electric bill used to be around $250.
I just had solar installed. I now have to pay a $13 “connectivity fee”.
My panels cost me $190 a month until they’re paid for. After that they’re mine.
I’m happy with the arrangement.
