OT: Well. My neighbors who live right behind me and who like to have thumpy-music-until-3:30-AM dance parties are at it again. Wish me luck.

Puck, Burt can’t hear you. He’s busy brushing his teeth.

Back when I had cats, I had a Maine Coone cat that loved to floss his teeth on a wool blanket. I’d wake up at 2 AM to the sound of grinding and look over to him and see him chewing away. A quick boot with my feet under the covers would stop him but two hours later he’d be at it again.

Gotta love the resistance.

Puck’s puffed up yail is bigger than his entire head here. LOL

I tried brushing Toshie’s teeth….once.

I’ve seen tooth cleaners that are basically chew toys. You put special toothpaste on them and they brush your pet’s teeth as they chew.

Pucky is not having it. And look at all of those toe beans.

I have heard tell of cats who placidly allow their teeth to be cleaned.

I give the cats dental chews as I like my fingers unbitten.

No, Puck. Censoring the opinion of the other side is rarely a good tactic.

I have never once tried to brush Loaner Cat’s teeth. Some things are better left alone…

In panel three, is Tommy becoming a spokescat for “Yummy Cat Toothpaste” – the cat toothpaste your cats will love!

I think the Woman’s efforts at brushing Pucky’s teeth are doomed.

Those are four SERIOUSLY AGGRAVATED cats! I hope the Woman stocked up on bandages before trying this!

Our vet suggested this and we just laughed. We’ve seen them sink their fangs into mice and found leftover mouse parts. No way we’re sticking our hands anywhere near that weaponry.

My cats floss their teeth on electric cords. I’m trying to make them stop.

Good for Burt on the PSA. The Elvis method of flossing is not good for kitties. I think Puck is too polite and Elvis is too protective to hurt the Woman, but I would worry about trying this on Lupin.

Trust me, kitties, you want the teeth cleaning, otherwise you’re going to face a world of tooth and mouth problems that won’t be fun. Not to long ago, in fact, my folks had to put down one of their cats because it’s mouth had become too inflamed due to a bad (or two) tooth for him to properly eat and sadly, by the time the vet diagnosed the problem, he was already too weak for the required surgery so to safely remove the tooth. :(

Did we meet Burt before?

Our vet suggested teeth cleaning of King, the 7 y.o. He would also remove a lump on him for a nice price of some $500. Our female needs her teeth done as she has some gingivitis going on. Even that would be like $300.

I’d like to have their teeth done as my Siamese had to be put down at 19 & a 1/2 because of his teeth. We are going to ‘bite the bullet’ and get these 2 taken care of.

Given the cost of pet dental care, toothbrushing daily is every bit as important for them as it is for us.

OT – emergency phone numbers

I wonder if Tommy’s cheerfulness will become a problem when he moves into The Pink House.

I’ve seen a mad puck before but he is really peeved here.

Getting my cats to cooperate for a couple of seconds to take a pill is a major (and hazardous) undertaking. I cannot imagine any cat sitting still for teeth brushing.

Dry kibble helps to keep teeth clean in between canned food.

Watch out for vets who suddenly want to pull multiple teeth. One of my friends fell for that one.

I’ve had cats all my adult life and none of them have had dental problems, except for one “jock” of a cat, who broke a fang jumping off a twenty-foot-high roof onto a fence.

The weekly claw trim and tooth brushing is so fun. I know, I should be brushing more often.

Albert did not like having his teeth brushed. Bartholomew, on the other hand, seems to like the toothpaste very much. In fact, he likes it so much that he figured out how to pull open the drawer in the bathroom, grab the packet, and bite it open.

Puckmosis: Do we have any more tooth twigs? I think I’m going to need a replacement.

Bea: Tomorrow I’ll go with the Royal Procurers to find a new batch of twigs.

There was a time when all 8 of my cats had their own toothbrushes.

Tommy has never looked more like a game show host than right here.

Vlad, when he was a baby, would watch me. I would show him what ma ma does. Then I let him drink from the “cup”. Then I got the toothbrush and toothpaste. I would actually sit on the toilet and let me brush his teeth, just like ma ma. Now Sebastian on the other hand…..it took him 2 years of him sitting on my lap before he would be on the toilet without my lap. They both would get to drink out of the “cup” afterwards as a reward. Miss Vlad.

Got one of those purrfect arches for Smokey and the boys years ago when they came out. DC claimed it as his. Wish he’d use it for more than a toothbrush/dental floss, but at least he uses it for something.

This is when Pucky needs to brag he has three legs and can use them all in a defensive manner.

Oh dear. I had to give up, I only have so much blood and trying to brush cat teeth was requiring me to spend too much of it.

This is SO hysterical! My grumpy old man/cat wouldn’t allow this, not even a little bit! He doesn’t do the hairball gel medicine, either, back when I could even FIND a tube of it!
