Putin is continuing the trend of nuclear intimidation and blackmail that the despot in North Korea has resurrected in recent years. It shows both his weakness and that of NATO and the UNITED NATIONS. Soon, China will use it in its invasion of Taiwan.
“Who’s on our side?” “300 million screaming Chinamen.” “I thought there a billion Chinese.” “There were.”….approximate quotes from Red Dawn, Patrick Swayze & Powers Boothe
I’m beginning to wonder if Putin’s nuclear arsenal is more of a boogie man in the closet. Nukes and their delivery systems are sophisticated systems requiring consistent monitoring, maintenance and upgrades. In Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, one of the things we’ve seen is the manifest lack of maintenance, repair and upkeep of their vehicles and equipment. One has to ask, does this scenario extend to their nuclear arsenal? One of the things that happened with the dissolution of the old USSR was a massive brain drain of skilled technicians and scientists leaving the country for vastly better paying jobs around the world. Another thing that was lost was generational knowledge, tricks of the trade if you will passed down from the the old guys to the newbies on the job. Along the lines of “Yeah that’s what the book says and what you learned in school. Now here’s how you really do it which is better, faster, safer and more efficient.”
In fact, I could make a good case that there is no better time to push Putin to the wall. Flood Ukraine with weapons, munitions, equipment and supplies sufficient to drive Russia back across the border and also to liberate Crimea. Give the Ukrainians the tools, they will supply the troops and take back their land and country.
The six Republicans who voted against investigating Russia for war crimes
GOP Reps. Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Warren Davidson (Ohio), Paul Gosar (Ariz.), Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.), Thomas Massie (Ky.) and Scott Perry (Pa.) all opposed the bill.

If, God forbid, he uses them, only the dead will be the winners.

People say "Close only counts in "Horseshoes & Hand Grenades ". Looks like we’ll have to include “Nukes” to the list.

… if Putin’s nuclear arms, are as good as his soldiers, we have nothing to worry about…

The world community, led by the US, has made several moves:
1. Freezing Russian Accounts Overseas
2. Supplying Ukrainians with arms
3. Boycotting Russian coal
Future Moves include
4. Boycotting Russian oil
5. Boycotting Russian gas
These are sensible and should help to convince the Russian people that their leader needs to go.

Thank you Chip for the reminder. Russian Ukraine crimes have pushed me to think of “risking it”.
