I prefer to promulgate the Apple-Microsoft Wars mythology.

Yeah, Star Trek TNG did a terrible episode on the sun-moon mythology thing.

A glimpse from the future (and other planets) is given by the tour guide in the Doctor Who Christmas Special (2007): “Now human beings worship the great god Santa, a creature with fearsome claws and his wife Mary. And every Christmas Eve, the people of UK go to war with the country of Turkey. They then eat the Turkey people for Christmas dinner, like savages!”

Has anyone written any stories about a post apocalyptic future that features a religion based on a currently known work of fiction? I’ve toyed with the idea of writing one about a future where the dominant religion is based on surviving fragments of Tolkien’s work, but I am too lazy to actually do it.

    Imagine there’s no countries

    It isn’t hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

    And no religion, too

    Imagine all the people

    Livin’ life in peace

As a small child, it seemed everyone pointed straight up to where God and heaven were located. I remember going to school on Monday, after some thing in Sunday School the previous day about heaven. We were shown that model of the solar system, with a crank that spun the planets around the sun and spun the moon around the little ball of Earth. I started thinking about “so, where is heaven?” If we look up, that direction is spinning all around. I never wanted to go to Sunday School ever again.

I wonder if polytheism will make a comeback. Monotheistic religions seem to have become dominant the last few centuries.

Why Are Both Jesus and Satan Referred to as the Morning Star?

The alternative is to be like Satan; a fallen star. Jesus is the Morning Star, but not a star that comes and goes according to the cycle of a day or a year. His star will be the immovable, immutable center of our lives.
