So yeah chatrooms are now a primitive thing. Wonder what texting will be replaced by.

I remember back in the days of chatrooms when us kids were constantly warned about internet safety and not giving out personal info.

You could try “Facehoof”, Dad. Chat with Marigold and others.

Something’s wrong, though. Didn’t the program used to have more of a rosy tint?

“Oh, version V23.3, how I miss you. Oh well, back to version V23.4 ….”

The internet is better in every conceivable way than in the early to mid 90s, save one: it just seemed more fun then.

Ah, the days of phone handsets in acoustic couplings and bulletin boards. Then came the Smart modem first running at 300 baud then advancing to 2400 bits/s. Kids today are in disbelief when told you could make cup of coffee or get snack while waiting for downloads or uploads to complete.

I’m hoping real face to face conversations. Texting sucks

I know how Dad feels. I miss the folks I spoke with at the C.C.O.C. but they all went off to something called “A LIFE”. ;)

A lot of people I know still use IRC.

Still have my hot mail, and don’t have to deal with trolls just my freinds, and I keep it scrubed, wonder what that means!

Can’t say I’ve ever felt that nostalgic for an obsolete program…

One alien to another: They have science capable of instantly-transmitting video planet-wide… but their people still prefer to chat using odd thumb gestures…

I actually got a linux for Christmas.

I still remember the good old days of using Windows XP.

Suzanne and I both had a good laugh with this one.

Don’t ask about BBS and dial-up.

There was exploration, adventure and fun. This was ALL new stuff that we were reaching out for.

It was going to take us to the STARS and beyond.

I have that exact same feeling when I come across old check registers. Talk about a window into your past life! (FYI for those not familiar with the phrase “check register”: checks are pieces of paper issued by your bank on which you could indicate payment for various things like bills and groceries; “registers” were specialized notebooks where you kept track of your expenditures.)
