They just need to open an impeachment inquiry. They can get any and all un redacted documents and testimonies they need. Drag it out through the election season. The brain dead senate won’t convict him anyway.

I still believe that Trump will use a failed impeachment like a club on the Democrats. Ms. Pelosi is not stupid. I believe she knows what she’s doing.

As long as McConnell is willing to guarantee acquittal in advance, regardless of any evidence presented, impeachment is pure folly.

The handcuffs, rightly, belong on Mitch McConnell hands who has vowed an impeachment trial will never reach the floor of the Senate.

The Dem house could impeach Trump in a week, but the Repub senate would say no to removal. Pelosi is concerned impeachment might be just what Trump wants so he can portray himself as the victim of a witch hunt. We should investigate as if we were in the process of impeaching Trump and if some smoking gun is uncovered, then impeach.

The alternative to impeachment is giving Trump and his gang a blank check to do anything they like regardless of legality and knowing ahead of time that there can’t possibly be any accountability. I don’t get why anyone who isn’t complicit would see that as a better alternative.

Impeach closer to election time. Any senators, whose terms are up, will question their reelection chances if they side with a well documented abuse of our laws. (Pipe dreaming on a sunny Sunday)

From what I’ve observed, I really think slow and steady will win this race. As has already been mentioned, the current Senate wouldn’t convict on any charge, regardless of evidence or testimony, nor am I assured of the impartiality of the Supreme Court. However, the hovering possibility of such proceedings allows time for the accumulation of hard evidence.

Although Speaker Pelosi thinks she’s conducting de facto impeachment hearings with the current ongoing investigatory hearings, she is merely demonstrating that the Democrats don’t have the strength of their convictions and basically it’s going to keep on the sidelines the people we need to defeat trump in the election: the youth. They are not interested in voting for cautious, focus group tested fecklessness.

Pelosi said she believes Trump is guilty of crimes but won’t start impeachment.

She said to let the voters decide in 2020.

Mitch won’t let a single thing from the House come to vote, the president will not work with the Dems, Nancy won’t start impeachment.

Its a do nothing House, why would anyone vote for them in 2020?

Hire a Congressional Special Prosecutor and get the ball rolling already. Pelosi is too afraid of blowback but if they open a criminal investigation into McConnel for his and his wife’s questionable Chinese dealings (as is their right) the Repugs will be on the ropes throughout the campaign trying to stay out of prison and will suffer from diminished leadership. I would also say we draft Oprah Winfrey to run as Bill Maher says as she is the only person savvy enough and clicks all the boxes of national support.

The Republican majority in the Senate is a much larger problem than impeachment, to the point where it makes impeachment more or less academic. The obvious priority would be to swing the Senate into a sizeable Dem majority.

No one could reasonably believe that Trump is not guilty of lots and lots of stuff. The problem is that I know a bunch of people who UNreasonably believe it. And, a whole bunch of other people who are marginally interested and would believe that the news reports, in which Trump would declare that since the senate found him innocent he is pure as the driven snow. The idea that it is the moral, patriotic, honorable thing to impeach him because he is obviously guilty makes some sense. It makes more sense to believe that it is the moral, patriotic, honorable thing to do what is best for this country, and setting Trump up to be declared innocent by the senate is not in the best interests of this country.

Unless you get 20 GOP senators to go along, impeachment simply guarantees Trump’s reelection and the Democrats’ loss of the House in 2020.

I’ve lost it with Pelosi. What does Il Douche have on her that she gives him a pass om everything? If she’s afraid the Dems will lose the election, she needn’t worry. They already lost. She will go down in history as the person who handed the country over to Nationalistic thugs.I have emailed her and will continue to do so but have absolutely NO expectations that she will step up for the American people who have no other option than wait for her dithering. Don’t listen to the talking heads who have premature evaluation, like Chris Matthews or ‘mumbling’ Chuck Todd. Pelosi didn’t say impeachment is “off the table”. She said it’s not a viable option now. The talking heads just want job security.

The only way to get the Republican/conservatives in the Senate to vote ‘guilty’ on an impeachment charge is for WE, the People to demand it. So far most don’t. A Senate finding of ‘Not Guilty’ for an impeachment of tRump will guarantee not only a win, but the actual record win he covets. He wouldn’t have to lie about it.

Those talking heads need to do their job as our Founders intended by the 1st Amendment. Give up the money for now. Inform and educate WE, the People.

    Hold the hearings!

In public! — Not behind closed doors.

    On TV!

Continue to subpoena and go to court.

    .

    Follow the evidence.

Unless you start impeachment and get the evidence out there

people will not know about it.

Impeachment also takes away some presidential powers.

Let’s make this as simple as possible – “The House of Representatives shall have the sole power of impeachment” means the House brings up the charges. “The Senate shall have the sole power to try all impeachment” means just that. Now see the problem? Impeachment in the House won’t happen overnight and it being tried in the Senate would be dragged out for many, many months while the *itch McConnell & Co., Inc. would complain every day on Faux Noose about how they Democrats would be wasting time and money (though it would be the reichpublican controlled Senate running the circus), and thus doing nothing about actually trying the case for impeachment and for many months playing up daily to the morons in the peanut gallery that support the Velveeta Voldemort. Soon it’s election time. Guess what happens? After considering that does Pelosi still look dumb? All of a sudden the two party system shows its problems and the system of checks & balances importance becomes clearer. The reichpublicans are so afraid of falling out of goose step with each other that not only will they never, ever reach across the aisle (and oh God, how I miss John McCain, and especially his sense of duty and honor which are totally lacking in the reichpublican party) but will also never, ever cross one another to a far greater extent than crime syndicates could ever even dream of.

    Pretty simple stuff.

She understands that she might not even get the impeachment passed, and if she does it will crater in the Senate.

She also understands that if she allows it to happen the Dems will absolutely lose the House and the WH in 2020.

    That, my friends is realpolitik.

Time for some Republicans to step up, not just Democrats. The Ds don’t have the majority in the Senate, so it can only go so far. It should be a bipartisan effort.

I think Pelosi is playing a “long” game in which she just keeps banging away, doing a thorough and painstaking job of nailing down each detail so that by November 2020, the evidence of his wrongdoing is both massive and incontrovertible. Though I too am getting a little impatient for the first (second?) shoe to drop.

How about some reality therapy, if you start these impeachment proceedings you will rally and coalesce Trump’s base and Faux New will skewer the Dems even more….leave Trump alone and in the White House to make a fool of himself and the GOP and stink it up until the election…we do not want milktoast Pence as Pres, a person many do not feel is all that objectionable…..revenge is not sweet if it is not truly possible.
