I wonder what the administration’s response would be to the Canadian Prime Minister’s adoption of a “Canada First” or “Make Canada Great Again” agenda.
What a disaster; Canadians can now be sure they are getting actual safe weed and not something cut with poisons, organized crime will lose tons of black market money, the RCMP and the courts will save tons of money not going after victimless crimes, and Revenue Canada will make tons of money taxing it.
If I now choose to take marijuana I can get some reliable advise on which strain would have the desirable effect and what is a safe dose to take. The street stuff was way too risky.
“Reefer Madness” was pure BS. My concern is only that “recreational” users use several times as much as I do for medicine, and that’s true of most medical users. I also don’t like the feeling of being stoned or drunk, which is of course, as with booze, the objective of many users. Actually, comparing a single glass of wine with a good dinner, or using a medically useful dose of cannabis (vaping better than smoking btw, or edibles), is pretty equivalent. Also, I don’t drive after medicating, but used to be FAR more stoned on valium taken as prescribed, than with pot. Also, pot does NOT affect most driving skills to anyhwere NEAR the affect of alcohol! But, as noted, still don’t advise to use and drive, either one.
Recreationists, be careful out there as they used to say on “NYPD Blue”. Again, even when I did use it “recreationally” years ago, never got stoned to a level depicted in the Cheech and Chong films, or the commonly pictured TV or movie versions. High may be happy, like with less pain, spasms, etc, but the psychodelic effect just ain’t there with medicine.
My only problem with marijuana being illegal is that alcohol is legal. It is intellectually dishonest to make marijuana illegal and not alcohol. It demonstrates that the overall concern by the government is economic and not actual concern for citizen health. Alcohol is huge, has money and political connections (and historical traditions)…they got there first by selling a poisonous substance for millennia. So they get to stay. But alcohol is more terrible for the human body (liver in particular) than marijuana and is addictive. Despite cutesy magazine articles with wine drinking moms while their children have a play date and poorly done research that says a drink or two a day is good for you…there is actually no good health reason to drink. Humans throughout history drank poison to get intoxicated. I didn’t spend so much time in my twenties in bars to improve my health…that’s for sure. So if you drink but oppose legal marijuana, you are either ignorant or engaging in self-deception. Or maybe a little of both.
Mr Payne, it’s good you explained that the leaf on your Canadian flag is a marijuana leaf but your conservative fans won’t get the joke unless you explain it’s supposed to be a maple leaf.

I can travel the whole west coast and smoke weed legally.
Meanwhile you people on the east coast are fighting and polluting, you have no idea how much we resent your ‘leadership’.

Now hemp can be grown and many products, legally, be made out of it.

Of course it’s a good idea. What better to mollify the “people” then allowing them to “chill out” on pot? This is every politician’s dream!
