When has that EVER been the actual goal of American interference?
America’s official position has, up to now, been that Israel needed to settle the Palestinian problem before we would actually relocate our embassy. Israel, under the Right-wing politicos of Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party have lately taken to ignoring the Palestinians unless they have physically attacked Israel, and then they have been brutally suppressed!
Officially, Israel has blamed the Hamas Party of Gaza, as the titular head of Gaza, of all the unrest of the Gaza strip, and for the current unrest, and, as a “terrorist” organization, refuses to treat with Hamas. Gaza is too small to function independently, the people of Gaza are not allowed to travel to either of the countries surrounding them (Israel and Egypt). The entire setup of Gaza has been likened to a modern-day “Warsaw Ghetto” by some observers (with some justification, I might add!)
So, Israel is constantly encroaching on the Palestinian west bank with more and more jewish settlements while ignoring the whole Gaza problem except when it kills the people of Gaza when they attempt to escape into Israel, and America does its part by toadying up to “BeeBee” Brain and his party of right wing extremists every chance we get!
I support Israel’s right to exist but that doesn’t extend to allowing it to run roughshod over anyone they don’t like, and, yes, I understand how difficult it is to be the “adult” in the room when someone else wants you dead! I will only point out that I do know this because, as an Amerind, my people have already lived through this, I know that it CAN be done – it isn’t easy, but it can be done! But BOTH SIDES must approach this as adults – and to start off, America REALLY needs to stop poking these particular “ant hills” with a stick!
It pleases the apocalypse-minded evangelicals who want to nudge God into bringing on the End of Days. Apparently, God needs their help. Sounds kind of pathetic to me.
