Val: Holly, I'm not trying to embarrass you. But if you're old enough to have a boyfriend, you're old enough to do things the proper way. Val: Any boy who wants to date my daughter has to MEET THE FAMILY FIRST. Holly: I'm going to die alone. Val: We'll play charades!!

^um, excuse me? Get Holly’s and Alex’s permission? The parent does not need permission from the children to go on a date! And a grown woman does not need to get her mother’s permission, either!

Holly’s conclusion that she will die alone is the best line.

The funny thing is, she said she was going to die alone even before they got to the charades part!

It reminds me of this grand trilogy of Ben Stiller movies-Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers, and the upcoming Little Fockers.
My mom would definitely make it a hipper meeting with Dr. Pepper, 100 Grand bars, and a double feature movie of Toy Story 3 and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

Oh, the dramatic conclusions of teenagers! LOL! If she’s embarrassed about how her family acts, maybe (but I doubt it) it might make Holly think twice the next time she acts crazy.

@somebodyshort, Val was well over the age of 13 when she met Phil. Better to speculate on how old she was when she first dated her children’s father.

somebodyshort: “[Dad] has no use for women.”
If that’s true, have you considered having Maury Povich give you a paternity test?
