My neighbor proudly kicked her 20 year old son out of her basement about two years ago, saying that it would cause him to “come out of his shell and grow up”. They found his body last winter, stabbed and frozen. She’s not quite as sure it was a good decision as she was two years ago.
I knew one couple who claimed to stay together due to mutual fear of gaining sole custody of the children. I think they were joking even though they did divorce after both daughters left home.
