I went to Michigan Technilogical University for 2 years and the joke around campus was about the MeEm building (Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics building), the building (which housed the civil engineering department) was built on soft ground and had flanges at the top so it looked like a mace, a couple years after the building was finished a professor was doing a demonstration and discovered that the building was no longer level because the building had shifted on the soft ground.
