To be fair, he DID say that he would NOT vote for the Republican Don’tCare plan as it is right now…

I have long felt that the Republican mantra is: “I’ve got mine, to hell with the rest of you!”

Not that it will help you where you are going McCain. There’s not much difference between 1,000,000 and 999,999 degrees.

Important that John called for cooperation to make a better bill, and thaty he would NOT vote for the current bastardization from Republicans. I often disagree with his actions, but respect his courage, and recognized a long time ago that his PTSD led to a lot of his “irrational” behaviors over the years.

I had hoped that this new catastrophic event in his life would give him a new touchstone of compassion for others. It is so easy to be turned inward when faced with your own mortality and I think that’s what has happened here. Too bad, because McCain could have used this base of sympathy for himself in this Arena to really turn around how the rest of his Congressional compatriots view the health-care bill.

he voted to have a vote on whether they can vote to start the vote. This little show is even more convoluted than what the Democrats went through to get Obamacare. if they were really concerned with healthcare for the American people, they wouldn’t be playing these games.

I have actually heard them say they need an incremental effort now. Isn’t that what the ACA was? Why don’t they actually do something that fixes ACA? Is it because they “promised” to repeal? Do they not care about the rest of the promise? They are just trying to spike the ball and claim they won the game.

John McCain is, at heart, a Republican with all that entails. That does not make him a callus person, merely one who believes that that there are ‘deserving’ people and ‘undeserving’ people and the government should not lift a finger to help the ‘undeserving’! Each individual determines the the definition of “undeserving” but, usually, it devolves into meaning “not like me” and, unfortunately John, like so many Congressional republicans, defines “me” as ‘multimillionaire’ for starters!

As long as we continue to elect representatives whose net worth is magnitudes greater than the median middle class net worth, we are going to have representatives who have no idea why we are concerned about healthcare (and most other issues that are of no concern to the wealthy).

CRIS, “you can buy what you want” if you have the money to do so. If you don’t then “screw you”. Considering you were complaining the other day when people said that they wished McCain would get well but they KNEW he was going to vote to take health care from others, your lack of empathy is on full display along with McCain’s.

This is a pretty stupid commentary. Mr. McCain has the exact same insurance (though more money personally) that any other federal government worker has.

I get what the artist is trying to say, but the comic is not quite accurate.

Meanwhile, Democratic Senator Marie Hirono, who is battling fourth-stage kidney cancer, left her own treatments to vote to try and save healthcare for the tens of millions who would lose theirs if the Republicans get their way. She is the real hero here.

Well, whaddaya know? McCain actually came through and did the right thing for once. Thank you, Sen. McCain, for helping to save the ACA. Now let’s make it better and move towards Medicare for all!

I always remember the words of an environmentalist concerning the republicans: “Our defeats are permanent, theirs are always temporary.”

Look for McConnell to sneak parts of this into other legislation that has nothing to do with it.
