There were open Obamacare hearings, Pelosi was taken out of context, but the current secret republican plan on which there were no public hearings will be unknown until they vote for it.

I’m betting that the bill is passed at 10 o clock or later, to hide it from the angry public.

Why is Varvel shilling for McConnell? Democrats held over 3 weeks of open hearings prior to the vote for the ACA! They also incorporated 161 Republican amendments into “ObamaCare!”

What are those pointy things on Nancy’s face? Her eye bags hanging down? Her pointy cheeks due to all the facelifts?

It’s simply wrong for legislation that’ll affect 100% of the American people to be negotiated behind closed doors.

You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention—it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting. But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.

The overwhelming majority of Americans oppose Trumpcare. But instead of listening to the pleas of families, doctors, hospitals, and patient groups, Republicans are behind closed doors plotting to push tens of millions of Americans off their health coverage. So long as the bill hands tax breaks to billionaires, the GOP doesn’t care what Trumpcare does to the health costs and care of hard-working Americans. Trying to ambush the American people only confirms Trumpcare as the ‘mean’ and ‘cold-hearted’ monstrosity that it is.

ObamaCare will be replaced with something that actually works – bringing freedom and individual responsibility back to American families.

    THEN: GOP voters outraged!

NOW: GOP voters struggle up from sickbed to laugh at Democrats’ objections before sinking back in a prolonged coughing fit.

In reality, there is no comparison between the Senate health care process in 2010 and what’s going on right now. These are the facts:2010 Obamacare: - The Senate HELP Committee held 14 bipartisan roundtables, 13 bipartisan hearings, 20 bipartisan walkthroughs on health reform in the Senate HELP committee, considered nearly 300 amendments, and accepted more than 160 Republican amendments. - The Senate Finance Committee held 17 roundtables, summits, and hearings on the topic, held 13 member meetings and walkthroughs, 38 meetings and negotiations, for a total of 53 meetings on health reform. - The Finance Committee then had a 7-day hearing where amendments were accepted – the longest such hearing in over two decades. During this process, the Finance Committee adopted 11 Republican amendments. - Both committees posted their legislation online for 6 days, allowing stakeholders and the public to evaluate the bill before any vote was taken. - The Senate spent 25 consecutive days in session on health reform when the bill was being considered on the Senate floor — the second longest consecutive session in US history.2017 Trumpcare:- No debate, no public hearings, no conversations or meetings, no Democrats have been invited to participate in their secret meetings, and no bill has been released.

The ACA was not negotiated behind closed doors. A bipartisan group met to hash out an outline of what was achievable (the mandate) and what was not (single payer/public option), if there was going to be any hope of passing a bill. After getting conessions, the GOP members bailed out of the effort, because McConnell & GOP donors made it clear that they would target any Republicans who voted for Obama backed healthcare reform.

There were numerous hearings & despite the lies about, “We have to pass it to see what’s in it”, the whole bill had been publicly available before the final votes.
