Fan of the Boston teams here, and it has been an awesome century so far. But dynasties aren’t good for the sport. Better if more fans believe that THIS could be their team’s year. Keeps them coming to the stadium, watching on the tube, or listening on the airwaves.
Why not? Is would save a lot of time watching regular season games that don’t have much action or drama, players seemingly waiting for the finals to start performing
AND
it’s good for the country to hate something, maybe the next NHL team could be called “The NORTH Koreans”
Just like you need heroes, you also have to have villains. The New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys, and the LA Lakers were the teams I loved to hate.I’ve been a Boston Red Soxs & Celtics fan all my life; a Chicago Cubs fan all my adult life; and a New England Patriots fan since they were the Boston Patriots.
Winning or losing they are all “sports dynasties” with traditions for winning big, and/or breaking your heart.
I followed my villains as assiduously, as I did my heroes. Back in the day, someone would ask me, for example, who my favorite football team was, and I’d reply " Any team playing the Dallas Cowboys " !
I’m sure the Pat’s haters feel that way, today. Go Pats !
is it what the salary caps are supposed to be designed to create a level field so all teams can believe that this is their year. but if you want to see the results of everyone getting a participation trophy all the time watch the movie idiocracy

Perhaps this is Hinds and Millar pointing out how rediculous it is to do that, even for kids level sports
