@Kurt.Zwicky: I just posted a reply to your above post, and it displays for me. But no one else’s replies display, nor can I add a reply to any post which already has one reply. Whoever is programming this garbage must be doing a lot of convoluted special-casing which doesn’t do what it should, when a functional and user-friendly design should be much easier to implement with simple, uniformly applied code.
And here’s the reply I posted, which the rest of you probably can’t see:
Whoever is “designing” these changes and “fixes” to the commenting here is like Trump… oblivious to the possibility of unplanned consequences. And as one consequence, not bothering to test to see that it actually works.
Worse than I thought. Some of the comics — e.g., Michael Andrew’s — are still(?) exhibiting the old comment behavior. That would imply that instead of using a single program to run all the cartoons/comics, each comic page has its own script, presumably copied/upated from a master copy, except that the updates are done and some of them have been overlooked.
I wonder if that’s also why some of the cartoons can go for long periods without being updated, even though the particular cartoonist has authored new ones. An individual responsible for updating them manually, but he somehow drops one or more page from his list, and then it doesn’t get corrected until one of us finds a way to contact the GoComics staff and let them know?
