Our outdoor cats never had any problems with skunks. Once watched a skunk walk within five feet of several of the cats and neither side paid any attention to the other.
Slight spoiler for long time readers (but I don’t want you to feel like he’s been left out, either!) “Louie” the skunk will not make his first appearance in this batch of strips. Originally he showed up in an interview outside—that will happen another time now! This is for a very important reason… Louie is friends with a certain OTHER character who has not shown up at the window yet! ;)
So—never fear! Louie is still out there! He’ll make his little skunk appearance another time.
And if you’re a newer reader and have no idea what I’m talking about—WHAT SKUNK? WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT A SKUNK?

Considering that Elvis greets every stranger with a full body poof, it’s no wonder he got sprayed.

I thought they were all indoor cats.

maybe it was just a black cat that went under a ladder that was still wet with white paint.

It was just Pepe Le Pew looking for love. Guess they were in North Carolina.

…again, the original had a slightly different punch line – I guess Georgia can’t use the word “butt” in the newspaper comics :)…

It’s best not to startle a skunk.

The one unrealistic note: I can’t imagine Elvis quietly sitting in a tub of water (or tomato juice or anything else.)

In the country, we call those “the afterburners”.

And btw, tomato juice DO NOT cut it! It takes dish detergent, peroxide and something I forget to get that out of a dog’s coat (or a cat’s.)

More wonderfulness. I do hope that other aspects of the original strip work their way into future strips…thinking here of the soup vs juice.

Re: the reporters getting out of the house from time to time. It happens. As do skunks.
