Stahler rarely draws caricatures of politicians, his style is to draw ordinary people and their reactions to events, but these caricatures are pretty good.
Governor Pence is the latest “Dan Quayle” to come out of Indiana.Like Quayle, Pence was probably foisted on the Trump Campaign to smooth over the ruffled feathers that much of the GOP has with Mr. Trump.Once Pence has served his usefulness, he will be jettisoned.
Two mismatched candidates: the neat, uptight Felix Pence and the slovenly, easygoing Oscar Trump. Pence, a neurotic neat freak governor has been thrown out by his state, and moves in with his friend Trump, a slovenly “billionaire”. Despite Trump’s problems – careless spending, excessive gambling, a poorly kept house filled with spoiled food, he seems to enjoy life. Pence, however, seems utterly incapable of enjoying anything and only finds purpose in pointing out his own and other people’s mistakes and foibles. Even when he tries to do so in a gentle and constructive way, his corrections and suggestions prove extremely annoying to those around him. Trump, his closest friend, feels compelled to dump him from the ticket after only a brief time together, though he quickly realizes that Pence has had a positive effect on him.
“The 1928 Republican Convention opened with a prayer. If the Lord can see His way clear to bless the Republican Party the way it’s been carrying on, then the rest of us ought to get it without even asking. "
