To save money on gifts give someone their favorite candy in a beautiful, customized vessel with a personalized tag. It’s sweet and always appreciated.

Probably too small a market for the Pajamagram people to offer Valentine’s Day themed Burkas….

I imagine the small box in the last panel cost ten times more than the large box in the first panel, even accounting for inflation.

I wish i could give my wife chocolate, but she is allergic to it and caffeine also. She loves fruit jellies, so that’s what she gets.

Her perky little boobs in the first panel have matured into fuller boobs in the last panel. Janis is moving into her maturity in a pleasing manner.

Never got candy (other than as a kid from dad) – candy makes one fat. First year we were dating I got a rose – as joke from a movie we liked, I don’t like dead things in the house. I had Teddy bears by the hundreds (I collect them) but not for Valentine’s Day – and where would one put a giant one?

We used to make our gifts for each other, which also served as the “valentine”. We made some great small items for each other over the years. We finally got to the point where we had both run out of ideas about 25 years in. That year I drew a heart on a piece of oak tag and glued on pennies and wrote “Makes cents to love you.” That was the last year we traded gifts – and we have been together 42 years, 36 of them married.

Gifts should be nothing more than a token – a large gift expected means that one values things more than the person they love, a large gift given means that one feels that they are only worth what they can spend. Love is shown by the day to day events that are shared – good and bad – like taking care of each other when the other is ill, sharing in good events, helping each other’s family, sharing hobbies that the other likes and them sharing yours with you. Gifts do not show love, just that one has spent money.
