Depends on where you come from, Joe. I grew up in Maryland, and the favorite there, especially in a lot of the shops on the Boardwalk in Ocean City, was apple cider vinegar on fries. It’s still the only way I’ll eat them.

@royman, I had been visited in Ocean Ciy, MD way back in 1997. It was soooooooooo beautiful place in Ocean City. I fell in love with Ocean City, MD. I never saw the place like you said about the shop that served the french fries with apple cidar vineager. That was very interesting!
I second Victor Goya’s note about Belgian Fries. MMMM good. As for burgers, they have to be my own. Only the best will do. Btw, I love the look on Garfield’s face. LOL
I do the Utah favorite, Fry Sauce. Essentially, ketchup and mayo blended with a bit of vinegar. However, there are many different recipes to pick from.

Do they have French Fries in France? Yes. They simply call them “fried potatoes” ( pommes frites)
After four years of taking French in high school and college many years ago, I finally got to use it!

I ALWAYS have a bottle of malt vinegar in my pantry, for fried fish as well as french fries. Good stuff!
(Yes, apple cider vinegar is second-best, but not as good as malt - I wouldn’t lie to YOU fine people…)

Hunt’s (NOT Heinz) Ketchup Malt (NOT apple cider) vinegar Tabasco sauce Salt (and lots of it)
Not all at the same time, of course…
I like Chick-Fil-A’s waffle fries….
