Joe, and maybe they could bring some hot dogs and marshmallows to roast along with the fish they catch? Sounds good, don’t you think? Sounds tasty to me!

Actually, JAD, bell3rose is right (in both her messages) The canyon could be taken to represent the gov’t on one side and the people on the other. What are comics about, if not for joking?

I took my wife fishing ONCE! She thought talking made it quality time. She also thought a cell phone and transistor radio was a good idea. Talking while fishing should be limited to monosyllabic grunts once an hour or two.

If you’re slick, your catch can be slipped back in the water with nobody the wiser.

Sat by a trout stream all day. Didn’t do anything or say anything or see anyone. A fish on a stick over the campfire was dessert. I’d already been nourished. Quality time, indeed.

Did you ever stop to think that some people just don’t want to hear your life history ? I know I for one do NOT

Maybe you should get a Twitter account so you can ramble about your personal life.

I don’t think I am the only person here who feels this way either, it’s just that maybe they are not as outspoken as i tend to be at times

“When a teenager doesn’t want to spend time with his father and do what his father wants to do, something about the relationship could have gone wrong up to 10 years before.”

Baldo and Sergio’s relationship is generally pretty good, all things considered. There’s a generation gap, certainly, but distancing oneself from one’s parents is a normal and probably necessary part of an adolescent’s individuation process. It’s hardwired.

And to the extent that it’s a concern that Baldo doesn’t want to do what Sergio wants to do, isn’t it likewise a concern that Sergio doesn’t want to do what Baldo wants to do? Why should Baldo be obliged to go fishing? Sergio certainly isn’t obliged to play video games…

Gracie’s got precisely the right idea; they should look to spend “quality time” together doing something they both enjoy. I don’t know that eating is the BEST solution, but maybe they could log onto GoComics and read the “Yenny” archives…
