The type II diabetics I know take the generic medication metformin. The newer, more expensive medications are for difficult to treat cases.The question is, are more Americans diagnosed because of guideline changes, or because of their low activity, high carbohydrate lifestyle?
My sister was on a glucophage until her A1C hit 7 and her GP was going to put her on insulin. She got a bypass and hopefully that will help. Diabetes is determined by a lot more indicators than just blood glucose.
