My ex and I shared 12 feet of closet behind 4 slider doors. I got one door, some; and she got three. And a half. One spring, labeled each of her 30 sweaters with “today’s” date. That fall, while trying to cram a few more sweaters in, she noticed the labels and became extremely irate when I explained that she could simply wear a sweater after taking off the label, and in a couple or three years, I’d go through the closet and give any still-labeled sweaters to a charity of her choice. Extremely irate.
My current spouse and I share a walk in closet w/ two sides. She has all of the left side, the end, and 2/3 of the right side. But, having lived through it once before, the dividing line on the right is some fixed-in-place shelving, so there can be no confusion about where it is. I get that and about 2 feet of hanger space. She gets a similar amount of shelving, 12 feet of shoe-rack, 15 feet of hanger space and all the floor space under anybody’s hanging clothing. And boxes and bags stacked in the middle.
